Educate. Empower. Transform.

Supporting girls’ education in Uganda

The Aninga Project started in 2006 the way most great things do, as a friendship. It became a small project between two families – the Benson's in Canada and the Asiki's in Uganda – working together to send one girl to school. That girl’s name is Aninga. We have since become a Canadian Charity and East African NGO supporting more than 60 young women in East Africa.

We have had the pleasure of witnessing seven of the young women we have supported graduate from university and find meaningful work in their communities. One of those young women is Aninga.

The Aninga Project reaches and ripples beyond the young women. In the areas where we are working, it is having an impact on child marriage, HIV/AIDS rates and the dialogue around the value of educating girls.

Our Students

How funds are allocated for schooling needs

Your support allows us to provide everything our students need to focus on their studies. It’s important to understand each of the young women we support has an individual set of needs and circumstances that come with individual costs.
